J.Crew on a budget

The biggest compliment I could get from a friend..."you look like you stepped out of a J.Crew magazine." Considering that these days with two kiddos in the mix and husband well into football and hunting season-I find it hard to put as much effort into outfits. I just don't have time. So when we went over to our dear friends house last night for a birthday celebration, and had worked all day- so I just threw on something comfy and yet was complemented with a reference to J.Crew, of course I was ecstatic! Plus I FINALLY got my first pair of TOMS Yea!!

Stay Strong

Do you ever feel like your being pushed to be someone your not. Maybe dress a little different, keep to yourself, turn your head the other way...well you get the point. I'm so much of a people-pleaser I don't understand how who I am can bother others so much! I strive to do well at what I do, work hard, fill in wherever I'm needed-whenever I'm needed and yet there is always a gap-pfft!

I keep a stash of Dove Dark Chocolates in my desk and here's what mine said this morning "Open your eyes to all the love around you." Really-maybe I need glasses??

I will play tug-of-war any day with him!

Okay seriously, couldn't be more excited for Halloween. Before we had kids I struggled to enjoy the darn holiday. One- because it was my favorite grandmothers birthday (who is no longer with us) and two-I guess I never really understood what all the fuss was about? What are we celebrating exactly? Rotting our teeth? Staying up too late? The first snowfall? Okay, okay so now 4 years in and 2 kids later I'M JOINING IN ON THE "NO REASON AT ALL" FUN.
Finn of course wants to be a superhero of some sort, it tends to change with his mood but for now it's Spider-man (with a cape of course) and Emersyn and I are teaming up to be....are you ready for it....The Hamburgler and yup a Hamburger-WHAT?! You don't know what/who I'm talking about?? Let me remind you-

Yup that's right he really did exist just not sure who paid any attention to him because Ronald McDonald seemed to always steal the lime light-but don't worry I'll pay tribute this year, full force.
And that my friends is The Hamburgler!
You'll just have to wait for the big day to see the actual costume (I think)-no I'll let you in on the plan in case you want to join me-

GOTCHA! Just a simple post about a maternity dress I saw in good ol' Tar-get the other day and I'm seriously wondering if I can pull it off without looking preggers?

Man, I feel like a woman

We have our first "scheduled" family photos to be taken today. Anyone who knows me knows I AM NOT PHOTOGENIC! So actually it's kinda funny that I take photos of myself and place them on the internet for ALL to see. Okay back on point, so family photos, well first I found it tricky to put our outfits together in a way so that we didn't match per say, but coordinate. I LOVE the warm weather we are blessed to have right now, being it's October in North Dakota. But 80 degrees?! A little warm for fall photos.  Now looking back, it's also funny how much effort I put into buying a new shirt, getting fake eyelashes, making sure my eyeliner pencil is sharp, applying self-tanner and attempting to whiten my teeth! If these are to be pictures of my true family I should show up in yoga pants, kids in PJ's and my husband in his favorite worn t-shirt.  But a little effort is good I spose... since we are traveling out to where we got married (Turtle River State Park) to take the pictures. Don't worry...next post hopefully will be family photos!
