Duluth is as close as it gets-

Duluth is as close as it gets for a vacation for us. Not that that's a bad thing it's just usually a bit colder with the lake breeze and takes a 4 and half hour drive to get there but we've gone every year since I was pregnant with Finn and read we needed to take a "baby-moon." Six years past and 2 kiddos later we have still gone away every Easter weekend for 2 nights to stay in Duluth, MN. I guess for me it's nice to feel like your further away from home than just a few hours because of the trees and of course the giant great lake of Superior.  The shopping is great and the food/breweries are AWESOME! It's a short but sweet trip but I look forward to it every year and am glad we have family close enough to watch over the chicklins' while we're gone.

The outfit I wore for the initial road trip-It's hard to tell but I'm wearing super tight cute, gray skinny jeans. I've kinda said screw it with the whole "I don't think I have the right body type" ie. junk in the trunk- for skinny jeans. They were actually super comfy and matched the gray stripe in top perfectly!

The second shot was on an old car we found parked outside of the brewery and I just couldn't resist an outfit shot/photo opp. :)

Lastly of course is the only kind of photo we usually get on our trips, one because I force Josh use his super long arms to take the photo and two did I mention I FORCE him to do it!

It was beautiful weather while we were there and although we came home to fog, a sick Em and cold weather...it's always good to be home!

To trim or cut?

I am headed in to see Sherry tom am (my home away from home local hairstylist) It was a decision made on a whim only because when I was home for Christmas I wouldn't let me my mom come close with a scissor I was too in love with the length but now I'm afraid it's more a need than a want. I'm still in love with the length and I know "Sherry" is going to tell me I need a couple of inches taken off but, but, but....so I'm debating calling and canceling my appt. We leave at noon tom. for Duluth and my quick dry trim is scheduled for 10:30 which she had available last minute. Guess you'll just have to sit on the edge of your seat all weekend to find out as did I mention I leave for Duluth TOMORROW??!!

Outside of my comfort zone

I tried this outfit based on a photo I had saved on my pinterest but it's definitely outside of anything I've ever worn before. It's still cold here (Boo!) so normally I would balance the fullness of the skirt with a tank tucked in on top well zero degrees isn't exactly tank top weather so...I tucked a long sleeve and belted the waist to try and even everything out. I still feel bigger than a balloon, not the most flattering of outfits. But I stuck to my guns, well that and I didn't have time to think of a completely new outfit! So I'm braving the day in one of those outfits that I feel like I constantly need to check out in the mirror-but I will say I am excited to have my turquoise jewelry out  for the first time this spring! As my son would say "Summer's just around the corner."
I won't hold my breath!

  casual...
This is my "What was I thinking?" face...oh yeah, THIS is what I was thinking :)

Feeling a little Flashy

It's Monday, it snowed MORE over the weekend and it's still cold! But on the brighter side only 2 days until we leave for Duluth! (cold or not) Today I put on this lace detail top and added some pearl earrings, my pearl necklace and felt like I should start doing the Charleston-or something like that, jazz hands? I don't know but either way if an outfit makes you feel like dancing it's bound to be a good day!
Happy Monday!

from Pinterest into Reality

For the love of GOLD!

It wasn't an expected love, especially a love I thought could never happen overnight. It is a new love that has expanded from earrings and bracelets to necklaces and belts and even to detail on clothing! My mother has always worn gold beautifully without effort and friends have always shown off gold without hesitation but I've always been the one to say "it's not for me." I'm not sure if I just wanted to believe that it wasn't right for my skin tone or didn't compliment my hair color but times they are a changing! I have found a new love appreciation for gold and now have it spread across my wardrobe in every aspect!

I wish you could see the detail in the picture better but my shirt even has gold zippers on top of each shoulder.
So my suggestion for you today is, if you haven't tried gold...
go ahead! Dive In! Jump On The Bandwagon! GOLD!
okay I think you get the point :) You just don't know until you try!

P.S. It's a little disturbing that for about 2 weeks now I've using self tanner because spring is "supposed" to be here and let's face it, the reality of it we still have several FEET of snow on the ground! But I still look pale and pasty in this picture :( Please send some warm weather my way if you can it's getting to be a bit ridiculous!

The girl who cried wolf-

It's official, I'm the girl who cried wolf! I say I'm going to blog more and then poof! 3 months go by and nothing! Well let me update ya on some things...1-It's still winter here, yes officially it's the "first day of Spring" but temps aren't getting out of the teens and our snow banks mountains are higher than EVER! 2-Josh and I are heading to Duluth next week for our annual getaway and I'm looking for outfit inspiration, but wait I have nothing to reference, wonder why? Because I HAVEN"T BEEN TAKING PICTURES! BOO! I go back and look at old pictures and my kids have changed and grown SO much in just a year! Finn is probably more than able to take my photos for me so maybe I'll have to throw that idea at him and see what he says? (As long as he works for free who am I kidding? treats)

Until then, here are some outfits I'm loving right now...
Guess I need some cargo pants?
