No I'm not talking drug smuggling or underage drinking...I'm talking the joys of having a baby girl-
Is it illegal to paint your 1yr. olds toenails just so they match yours? Only to your husband it's illegal? Oh, good. it's okay then. Is it illegal to have your little one's cardigan say "Nordstrom baby"? Only when you paid full price? Oh good, I just peeled the 50 cent garage sale sticker off.

just makes me giggle @ the ridiculousness of it all...

Superhero quality?

OKay so this am I've been thinking about what superhero quality I would like to have if I had the choice. Why? you ask...maybe b/c I didn't get to sleep until almost 10 because my neighbor decided he needed to start his chainsaw and cut some wood for his grill last night (wink,wink Sarah- good thing your my local bestie and the extreme circumstances:22 football players for dinner- called for a chainsaw and I completely understand I promise) or maybe because my little one decided to get up at 5 am just... because, but either way back to the superhero thing...I would definitely allow myself to freeze time. There have been a handful of times, okay maybe more times than I can count, where I have just wanted to embrace the moment. For instance at night when Emme cuddles with me right before I lay her down for the night or when Finn is trying to skip rocks at Turtle River, or when I just need a little more sleep or when I wish I had the time to clean, or well you get the idea!
What superhero quality would you chose???

On the road again...

I We don't leave until early (and I mean eeaarly, like 4 am early) Friday but I just can't help but think about anything. else! Emersyn and I are headed to Colorado for a week and guess what else? That means my 30 for 30 will be on hold. I know, I know, it would have been sooo much easier to pack if I stayed on task but what fun is that?

In the meantime, I have been taking my pics. Jeans are allowed @ work on the weekends-

And here is Tuesdays work wear. The best part about my morning conference room meeting, 5 out of 7 of us were wearing white pants. Yup, if you can't beat em' join em'. I'll promise to be more creative tomorrow. And by creative I mean no repeats.

On another note, I am a horrible traveler (and packer, a girl needs options). I typically stress about in what condition I'm leaving my house in, what distractions will keep Emme busy while actually on board the plane, if we have enough transition time during connecting flights, well you get the point. ~deep breath~ So as of yesterday: clean house;check, laundry done;check, emme packed; check...luggage weight limit = 50 ???

Almost cheated

So as you know I took on the 30 for 30 challenge and let me tell you, it's hard! So it's only the second week and I already almost cheated. Okay I cheated with the shoe/boot selection but the weather here today sucks! (it's rainy w/ a high of 61, yes degrees Fahrenheit and yes it's June 22nd) Moving on... in good spirited weather revenge I decided to paint my nails in an inspirational Essie Devils Advocate. So in my picture, no I am not flashing a gang sign, I'm flashing nails :)

New week, same pieces

Let's be realistic, I have 2 kids under the age of 3, weekends are hectic so instead of sticking to my 30 pieces all. the. time. I'm allowing myself to be practical and take the weekends off, sounds fair right? It was a busy weekend for not just because of Father's Day but also because Josh and I celebrated our 5 YEAR ANNIVERSARY! (kind of a big deal even though we've together for 10 but who's counting anyway?) He informed me that the traditional 5 year gift is wood (which I immediately thought uuugh okay? great. what does that mean? Do I get an extra special stick or something?) But NO, I have the best husband in the world and on top of my GAP gift card to help with my newly reinstated passion for fashion, he ordered me wood scrabble tiles: J <3 K (well you'll see in the picture) and the great thing is the letter J is #8 and ever since we started dating we've had "this thing" with the infinity symbol (it's actually inscribed inside both our wedding bands) and my K has a #5 symbolizing 5 years, meant to be right? Anywho, I decided to hang them above our wedding picture collage shelf in the living room. LOVE THEM.

And so here's outfit #5 back to work, sticking to the rules.

Can I borrow your stylist?

Do you ever find that if your hair and makeup aren't done before you try  
and start to get dressed nothing seems to look good? That was the case  
for me today so after my third outfit attempt I finally called my  
stylist and asked if she could come over early today. HA! Just kidding,  
I jumped in the shower. (well not jumped that wouldn't be safe)

So it's j and I's 5 yr anniversary today and we are having a day/lunch  
date. As always I stress about looking "pretty" and you know what? The  
funny thing is- that he thinks I actually look the best when I'm dressed down.

There really is no point to these 2 pics other than I thought "creatively" they looked cool. I was trying to capture my rad gold (yes gold, like navy w/black, you still with me? ok...) rad gold oversized leaf earrings that I wore with this outfit today but instead I got 2 kinda cool, artistic photos, oh well. 2 days down, 28 to go!

Promises, Promises

Ok here we go~brace yourself~  I promised myself I would use this blog as a  
personal space, a creative outlet. Well right now I need to use it as  
a drain for my thoughts even knowing it will get very personal and yes  
even knowing my mother in law and even my sister in law will be  
reading this. But its time to vent, be real, raw...

So j and I got in a  
tiff last night and this isn't what worries me. I know every couple argues  
and I truely believe it's actually healthy(every once and awhile). What worries me is the  
break in communication, the thoughts I start to dwell on and the feeling  
of giving up. I'm 30 and still unsure of what I'm meant to do in life.  
I know I'm a mother, a wife, but alone who am I?

I miss COLORADO everyday and  
what's funny is as hard as it is to admit, I don't miss the drama of  
my family and trying to make sure everyone's happy because they received equally  
timed visits. 

I do miss the drives through the mountains to clear my head.  
I miss spending time on the river.

I miss planning camping trips. 
I miss taking the spontaneous drive to a town where elk can be spotted, good  
food is easily available and you feel worlds away even though your  
only 30 min outside of town. 

I miss the sun! 

Sounds silly but  every time we get into a 

fight and we shut down and we become too  
stubborn to say the first word-  I want to run away, retreat, give up.  
(just for a bit) In some sort of miracle, find myself...happy. But the  
truth is If either of us gave up it would devastate me.  Often I  
find myself amongst selfish thoughts wondering if I'm strong enough to  
live this life I now have. I know I am a very emotionally driven  
person, I know I strive for that perfect attention and that it's  
selfish. But sometimes I can't help but to think things (well life) just  
kept moving without me even thinking about it. 

College, marriage,  babies, that's how it's supposed to line up right?

But now what?
Well I do believe everything happens for a reason. For some instances  
or challenges in my life it has to. I also know that life keeps movin  
ready or not so I guess I'm movin along too and will wait for the next  
chapter in my life to unfold. I recently had an MRI for my MS and it  
revealed new lesions but treatment is in the works so 

"don't give up  on me, I'm about to come alive."

Okay, I DID IT! and I promise, I didn't cheat! I picked my 30 pieces and stuck to it. Today is proof. I'm sick, had to work early, sick kiddos, oh wait...no excuses. Life goes on, so go with it, or it will go on without you. Too philosophical? Yea, back to what really matters...fashion! Yea! Okay so here are my 30 pieces and as nervous as I am to stick to these 30 pieces and 30 pieces alone for THE NEXT 30 DAYS, I'm up to the challenge.  My bestie/neighbor finally met out after work last Thursday for a drink and her outfit blew me away. She had on nude gladiator inspired stilettos and skinny cropped white pants paired with a white wrap blazer-CLASSIC! and since I didn't keep my word this week and actually didn't take even one outfit picture, I thought I would share someone else's glory! Had to post something for all my loyal followers! and couldn't miss a week of WIWW. So, thanks Sarah-you rock!

Replacement piece

My new favorite go to piece! As my husband would account for, I've owned a long cotton-jersey tie waist skirt for FOREVER. No really forever as in like since before college, I think. (It's been that long) 
Well once I got pregnant the first time w/Finn, and nothing else fit it quickly became my almost everday piece. (since I was in fashion denial about maternity clothes)

Sooooo, now that I'm not preggers and don't plan on it for a looooong time (if ever again) I'm lost without my go-to skirt because every time I put it on I feel pregnant. Not a bad feeling- for about 2 min and then yes, remembering all the different ways my body changes, well just not ready for that again quite yet. Okay, moving on...Found this skirt @ Target (pretty much the best local boutique. I know, I know I'm sooo lucky to have one in Grand Forks, North Dakota which is why I am there almost every day. Loud and proud for Tar-jay'

Closet Monster

Okay, seriously!! Someone needs to find, capture and LOCK AWAY the closet monster that keeps raiding my closet. I live in an older home so my closet is very far away from a "walk-in" (tiny actually) and it seems I just can't keep it organized which makes wearing inspirational outfits near impossible! To be completely honest I have way too many pieces and not enough room so it all somehow ends up on the floor. All excuses aside, here's my one outfit (I promise to do better next week) and a pic of my son's 3rd birthday-SO FUN! (Linking up w/Lindsey for WIWW)
